Welcome to Fubine Monferrato
Gateway to the most beautiful Unesco vineyards
The Monferrato of the Infernot, Unesco World Heritage Site
Only in a region where wine is both identity and culture can you find hidden treasures recognized as a world heritage. In 2014 the wine-producing landscapes of Monferrato, with their ancient and deep ‘cellars’—called Infernot—carved by man and shaped by a passion for wine, were included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Infernot are icons of a territory famous for its wise cultivation of the vine.

Precious legacies of the rural tradition, Infernot were dug under the ancient houses typical of Monferrato as appendices to their cellars. Thanks to the particular geological characteristics of the soil, commonly called “tufo”, in which they were excavated these hypogean cavities maintain constant temperature and humidity throughout the year.
The Infernots of Fubine Monferrato are among the most spectacular in the entire Monferrato area. In boasting over 50 officially registered Infernots, Fubine is also the town with the highest concentration. It is here, through a careful project of valorization of the territory, two more Infernots of remarkable architectural importance were recovered under the Palazzo del Comune: the Infernot degli Angeli. These Infernot, dedicated to the rediscovery of traditions and cultures that characterize Monferrato, are open to visitors throughout the year.

Because protecting the landscape also means giving particular attention to the historical and traditional building heritage, whose preservation is fundamental in order not to lose one’s identity.
